Meet the Staff

Jana

I am Dr. Penna’s practice manager, and I started assisting him over 20 years ago.

I assisted with his missionary efforts to remote regions of Latin America. I have also aided in his stateside efforts reaching out to nursing home, rest home and family care patients. I enjoy being a part of helping patients improve their health and quality of life while sharing in the many lifelong friendships and beautiful smiles that have come our way.

In my spare time, I love to spend time with my three cats, read, travel, and visit with family and friends.

Joann

I joined Dr. Penna in February of 2004 as a receptionist, and I am currently the new patient coordinator. I love our office. My work here has been a very positive and rewarding experience. I get the opportunity to interact with patients and families, helping them enjoy the benefits of orthodontic care.

I have a personal interest in healthy lifestyles and enjoy reading and evaluating nutritional products.

I was born and raised in Mooresville, and I’m very active in church and personal ministries. I am a people person and love to travel, especially to the beach.

Patsy

I joined the team in 2006 after two of my four children had been treated by Dr. Penna. When I would bring my children to see Dr. Penna, I noticed the care that went into each patient's smile and simply wanted to be a part of his team… the compassionate care and beautiful smiles said so much.

I have enjoyed interacting with the patients and families knowing that they also can see what I saw years ago…compassionate care and beautiful smiles.

I live in Mooresville. I enjoy spending time with my family.

Brian

I joined Dr. Penna in 2003, and I am dual trained as a dental lab technician and an orthodontic assistant. I love helping patients and families feel warm and comfortable in our offices. I also assist Dr. Penna in implementing new technologies for our patients, families and staff. We have a highly trained and energetic staff who works great together, sharing technology our patients and staff love.

In my spare time, my son and I restore antique cars, and enjoy traveling.

Cecilia

I began working with Dr. Penna in 2006 as an orthodontic assistant, but I am also trained as a dental lab technician and help with administrative tasks. I love getting to know all the patients and building relationships with our families. Dr. Penna and I share common interests and bonds from Latin America.

I am married and have two daughters. I love cooking and spending time with my family. Sometimes I like to surprise the staff with some of my creations and recipes from Peru.

Linda

I relocated to Mooresville in 2004 after 10 years as an orthodontic assistant in Eastern North Carolina and was excited to join Dr. Penna’s team. Helping patients smile has always been very important to me. I love to see the wonderful changes from the beginning of treatment to the end of treatment. Patients leave with great smiles and a heightened self-esteem. I find orthodontics is a very rewarding career, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to help others in such a special way.

I have two sons who have blessed me with nine beautiful grandchildren. Two of my grandchildren are being treated by Dr. Penna. They love coming to our offices and are really happy with the results they are seeing.

Elmer

I was a dental lab technician in New York for five years and relocated to North Carolina in 2005. I joined Dr. Penna’s team as a lab technician, and I am dual trained as an orthodontic assistant. I enjoy seeing our patients grow and watching their smiles change with each visit. I love orthodontics…it is a very rewarding career!

I am married and have one son. I enjoy playing the drums and being with my family.

Angie

I have always enjoyed working in the medical field, and I am trained as a nurse practitioner and surgical assistant. I have had the amazing opportunity to be a part of Operation Smile which helps children with cleft palates and plastic surgery. I loved being able to be involved with a program that was intent on helping patients feel great about themselves. I joined Dr. Penna five years ago and love to help improve the lives of others through orthodontics. I enjoy seeing our patients grow and helping them achieve beautiful smiles.

I have a beautiful daughter who takes up most of my free time. We love to cook, eat, play and travel together.

Tammi

I am a graduate of New Image Dental Academy in Ohio. After moving to this area in 2008, I joined Dr. Penna’s team as an orthodontic assistant. My sister, my fiancé and I are all patients of Dr. Penna. Personally experiencing the care and benefits of orthodontics for myself and my family has expanded my appreciation of this wonderful field of dentistry….patients see we have so much in common. I feel I am more able to help patients achieve their best after having treatment myself. I love orthodontics, and I am grateful to be a part of helping others!

I love spending time with Rick, our son, and family. We enjoy outdoor activities.

Souphy

I joined Dr. Penna in 2007, and I am dual trained as a lab technician and orthodontic assistant. For several years I had worked as a dental laboratory technician fabricating crowns and bridges in South Carolina. I love orthodontics, and I am also an orthodontic patient of Dr. Penna’s. I love to see the beautiful smiles of our patients every day and seeing how they have improved with each visit.

I have three children, and in my spare time I love to cook for my family and friends. I also love to shop…a girl’s favorite activity!

Ruben

I joined Dr. Penna’s staff approximately four years ago and have always enjoyed helping those in need. I have experience as both a dental assistant and orthodontic assistant,  but I particularly enjoy orthodontics. It is so rewarding to help our patients and watch their beautiful smiles get bigger and better at each appointment. It’s often hard to say goodbye when treatment is complete because our patients are like family.

I have many interests, including photography, music, going to church, and spending time my family and with my girlfriend and her wonderful children.
